Edwardsville, Ill. – December 4, 2025 – Award-winning asbestos litigation firm, The Gori Law Firm, recently welcomed four new attorneys to its offices in Edwardsville, Illinois, and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Mary Jo Guinn, Karey Lakin, and Madelyn Foster join the firm’s asbestos litigation and personal injury teams in Illinois, while Jeffrey Carey leads the firm’s expansion into the Missouri market.

About Mary Jo Guinn
Prior to joining The Gori Law Firm, Guinn worked in toxic tort defense, medical malpractice and general insurance defense. At the firm, her practice focuses primarily on asbestos, bankruptcy and mass torts. In addition to her law practice, Guinn formerly owned a business in O’Fallon, Illinois, and worked as a registered nurse. She is a graduate of Belleville Area College, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Saint Louis University School of Law.
About Karey Lakin
Lakin, a native of Madison County, Illinois, earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and history from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville before studying law at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law in Los Angeles, California. He is a general practice attorney who focuses on research and writing.
About Madelyn Foster
Foster is a proud “double Illini,” earning both her bachelor’s and juris doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. Before joining The Gori Law Firm, she worked at a national defense firm, handling complex employment litigation, which led her to recognize her passion for advocating for individuals. Foster has returned to her roots in Madison County to dedicate her practice to include personal injury, workers’ compensation, municipal law and employment law.
About Jeffrey Carey
Since 1997, Carey’s focus has been on helping clients obtain compensation after tragic losses. He joins the firm with a mission of helping families injured by asbestos receive the compensation they deserve, carrying forward the legacy of Randy Gori, the firm’s founder and former managing partner. In addition to his work on asbestos matters, he adds to the firm’s expertise in personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability litigation. Carey is a member of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science, before completing his Juris Doctor and MBA at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
